Hi Everyone,

I have had my MES 30 Gen 2 for approximately 4 years and am looking to purchase my first pellet smoker.  With so many to chose from I am asking people to weigh in on which one they think is great quality for a great price.

So far I have been researching Green Mountain Grill Daniel Boone Wifi, Traeger Pro Series 34 Grill and the Louisiana Grill Series 700.  I am trying to stay within that $1000 range so the Yoder is a little too high.

Are there any other pellet smokers I am perhaps missing that should be given consideration?  The reason for the switch from the MES to a pellet smoker would be for the larger surface area(not having to cut brisket, ribs, etc. in pieces to fit in the MES).

Thanks to anyone who cares to provide feedback or their experiences.

Under 1K take a look at the Firecraft Q450 and the Smokin Brothers 24" both are high quality PG's.

Thats alot of eggs.... poor chickens..

I've got a GMG DB. Its been a great smoker. Definitely has its quirks, but I've learned its "moods", and turn out great food.

That said I'd love to have a couple grand to upgrade. My finance department respectively disagrees.

Hi Guys I am new to the forum and just purchased my first pellet grill. After months of research & looking over all the grills, which most of them are very good I decided to go with Grilla Grills Silverbac. I put it together yesterday and I must say this grill is built like a tank.I am doing my first smoke on it today. I also spoke to several Grill company's and Grilla seemed to be the nicest & supplied lots of info. I feel there customer service will be top notch if ever needed. Also one of the best warranty's and Definitely the best Bang for the Buck out there. Anything from Grills to Pellets to accessories over $49.00 they will ship to you for free. I also gave my self a $1000.00 & even started looking beyond that. when it got time to drop the hammer I went with Grilla Grills. I figure I can buy lots of ribs and briskets with the extra cash.

I did a ton of research, and boiled it down to CampChef SmokePro DLX. It has great features that the others don't, like the hopper clean-out chute, and burn pot clean-out rod (LOVE IT!). It also has a good list of available attachments. Very heavy and solidly built. Smoke is light and fairly even, but I've had the temp reach 480° on the "High" setting on a 50° day.

I heat my home with a pellet stove, so I understand the concept of how the auger feed and forced air work together to maintain temperature. I also compared the mechanics of different brands and how easy it would be to work on or replace parts if need be. Again, this led me to CampChef. Not that I expect there to be a problem, but I know my luck. LOL

I'm not at all disappointed with my purchase. The DLX is quite large for me and my wife, but I get calls to do meat for parties and such. I'll be doing a brisket for a housewarming this weekend and I've been asked to do a graduation party for a nephew, in June.
