I bought a cheap offset smoker from walmart and it has served its purpose for years but it has died. I bought a treager pellet grill and i am not impressed the smoke tastes chemically and its more like a convection oven than anything else... anyone have any insight to a well built smoker that uses wood holds temp well and so on thanks for your help

Give Craig Bell an email at: [email protected]

Craig is a really good guy. He makes a great one off smoker at a very reasonable price. His material and fabrication are first class. Craig is great to work with and builds your unit to your personal specifications and needs.

Give him a try, Joe

If you've got time (year long wait ), a Shirley will do you right. When you compare specs, Shirley is way cheaper than some big name brands. I figure if you're without a cooker, you could get a stop gap cooker and sell it in a year! A Shirley will be passed to your grandkids!

There are a bunch of good offset smokers out there.

I have a Lang & love it.

Although the Lang & above mentioned smokers are a bit pricey.

For $400 you can get a WSM 22.5 that will give you years of service, & put out some fantastic Q

There are a number of people on the SMF with Traegers. Hopefully some will pop in an provide feedback on how they got good results with their Traeger (different brands of pellets or custom mods or simply smoking methods).

You might do a search in the forums for Traeger.

You might want to post a new thread in the pellet smoker sub-forum asking for advice on getting good results with your Traeger before you blow a bunch of money on a new smoker!

Welcome and happy smoking!
