Truly new at this smoking thing

Hi, my name is Jim and I am from Alexandria,MN. Until a year ago I really had no idea what really good smoked ribs were. Ribs typically made me feel ill to my stomach. But not these, no these were so awesome I decided that I needed to try them for myself. So last week I went out a purchased a 40" masterbuilt electric smoker and now I just want to learn some of the basics, starting with probably a decent pork butt. I juat am looking for some direction to create some of the best foods we have ever created on my own.
That in a nut shell is why I felt I wanted to join a forum group.

Welcome from SC, Jim. It's really good to have you here on this great site. After you have worked through the 5day ecourse, be sure to get Jeffs book, "Smoking Meat". It has some great advice and recipes.
