Just bought a house and they left the smoker behind

Hey all
I have always been a bbq man. Never smoked meats before. I just bought a house and the old owner left this smoker behind. Not sure of a brand but it looks like at one time it was a propane or natural gas smoker and they converted it. I really would love some input as to where to start to try and figure this thing out. Any help, advice, or input on what to look for on how to use this thing would be appreciated! I'm looking forward to playing with my new toy!

I'll snap some pictures when I get home again today but basically 3 shelves and an ash pit on the bottom. Trying to think of a way to improve what the started.
