I'm definitely a newbie to the smoking scene. The only thing I know about smoking meat is that I like to eat it, and it seems like doing it yourself is the best way to get what you want. I'm located in Green River, in Southwest Wyoming.

Haven't acquired a smoker yet, so I'm looking to learn about different types and their strengths and weaknesses, others' preferences in fuels, and basic techniques so I can get started.

Looks like a fun hobby, and I'm looking forward to learning something new.

Welcome to the group. A great place to start is the 5 day e course. I use charcoal and wood chunks. You have to babysit it but I think it is well worth it. Many folks here use a master built electric smoker. I am fairly new at smoking as well and have been learning a lot from this site. Just ask lots of questions and search the forums. Good luck and happy smoking. Glad you are here

I concur with short smoke.
The 5 day e course is a good place to start.
I use a 2 door propane smoker and like others you have to tend to it periodically.
I kinda like that aspect as it makes me feel connected to the process not just start it and walk away.

Im am new to this passion as well and this site is like my bible to smoking

Good luck and good smoking!
