Hey smokers! I need some help. I have been smoking for quite a while. I have always limped along with whatever iteration of smoker was cheap because, well, I'm cheap. I always believed it wasn't about the vehicle but the character of the driver. Well this is not so true. I have been modding and fighting, and modding and fighting a Brinkman Pitmaster for about 4 years now and I AM DONE WITH IT. I had some awesome results and some disastrous results. I am looking for a smoker that I can use charcoal and wood with . Not a side offset. I have seen a couple that I like but I would like all your input as this is kind of big deal. I will be smoking mostly butts, briskets, beef ribs some seafood and maybe cheeses and nuts.

Thanks for input guys and I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

I would suggest the Weber Smokey Mountain or something similar.  I've got a Napoleon Apollo (very similar design and construction to the WSM), and while I've only done 1 cook on it, it worked perfectly.  I got some great smokey flavour on it, and it was simple to use and set up.

WSM 22.5!

Hands down the best charcoal/wood smoker for the money.
