Hi, my name is Ron, I live in Wisconsin in the US. I baught a 30inch Masterbuilt PRO digital electric smoker a couple of weeks ago. I smoked a 9 pound pork shoulder last week for the first time and it turned out great. I ended up finding out about this forum when I was searching, how long I'm supposed to smoke my ribs for. I have 19 pounds of ribs to smoke and my gut feeling is saying smoke them for 12 to 15 hours at 200. And am I supposed to let them soak overnight like I did with the pork shoulder? If anyone has any helpful suggestions that would be awesome.

Welcome to the forum Ron. Always good to see another Badger joining in on the fun.

As for the ribs, I smoke mine at 225-240 degrees using a 3-2-1 or 2-2-1 process depending on how big they are. That's 3 hours with smoke, 2 hours foiled without smoke, and 1 hour unfoiled to finish, usually adding sauce and letting that get nice and sticky during the last hour. Do a search for 3-2-1 ribs and I don't think you will be disappointed.

I'm sure more experienced guys will chime in and give a better answer, but don't get discouraged. It's a fun hobby that will turn into an addiction. Even mistakes make you better.

Good luck.

Mark

Thanks for the advice Mark, I just posted the same question in the general questions section of the form as well. I wasn't for sure if anybody was seeing this or not.
