hello guys!!! it seems im having mayor problems here!!!

i made my own smoker out of trash i had in the yard.. but i didn't realize that the calculation i did was wrong (in fact i did not calculate much) so, i checked an online calculator and gave me these parameters...

i don't understand what they mean! im a newbie in this world of smoking...

here's a picture of the actual smoker so you can have an idea of what im talking about

as i understand.... im having problems with the firebox, it seems to be a bit small for the cooking-box, im planning on dividing the cookingbox in 2.. so i can use one for normal charcoal bbq cooking and the right side for smoking.. another option would be to rezise the firebox, but that option is out of my wallet...

could you please translate the information above? and help me out to reconstruct my smoker!!!!

ps. im sorry about my english but is not my mother language (im from venezuela by the way)

I cant help, sorry.  Never built a big smoker.

@DaveOmak , hope he sees this.   He will be able to help

im still having the smoker problem! i don't have a clue on what to do and how to solve it! i thought i could cut it in half, but im not sure about the size of the firebox.

The firebox I see about 1/4 the size it needs to be it looks like.

What is the length, and the diameter of the main smoke chamber? Inches or metric is fine.

That will get us started.

the smoke chamber lenght is about 50 inches and the diameter is about 21 inches

17305.25 cubic inches in the smoke chamber needs a fire box of 5769.75 cubic inches.

So, a fire box of 18x18x18" would give you just over 5800 cubic inches.

What is the diameter of the exhaust pipe?

You'll need at least 3" exhaust and around 36-40" tall.

Move the top of the firebox to down to at least the top of the opening.
damn a 40 inches pipe is kinda huge... would you recommend to cut the smoking chamber to a size related to the firebox i already have???

Hola Devilrafa,

Si se puede  ayudar.

You are probably better off starting again and build a larger and more sturdy firebox. The smoke chamber is fine.

The thin metal will not last and the smoker will not function well with what you have.

You should be able to locate some 1/4" plate at scrap metal yard for cheap and piece together a correct size firebox.

As always it is better to ask questions here and get experienced answers before you start cutting and welding.

If you need help in Spanish send me a PM and I can answer.
