New Daniel Boone owner - I smoked a 3lb brisket yesterday for 4 hours at ~240 (2 hrs at 230 & 2 hrs at 250) and used about 15lbs of pellets. It was about 25-30 degrees, with maybe 5mph winds but that amount of usage still seems really high. Is cooking at 25-30 that much harder on the grill than the 52-56 that's in the manual? I don't have a thermal blanket.

On a side note I set the temp at 250 and after 2 hours it only got up to 230. After two hours I changed the setting to 275 and it quickly got up to 250. Once it hit 250 and I set back to 250 it maintained that temp. What's up with that?

The thermal cover is well worth the cost. It definitely helps with pellet usage.

So, are you saying you had the controller set at 250*, but the controll panel only got up to 230*? If it's a wifi unit, the newer firmwares have a temp adjustment in the app.

Also do you have a 2nd therm with a ambient probe to check your pit temps?
