I came across a feed that was discussing the use of hickory and mesquite powders I'm very interested in using these in some recipes but they are expensive to begin with to just buy on a whim does anyone have a brand preference and opinion on best use of them thanks in advance for any help

Probably dehydrated liquid smoke. Google hickory powder and you'll see it.
