Finished up the plenum today and tacked it on there to see how it looked. The pipe is just sitting on there. I still need to mark the CC and cut the opening for the plenum.

Finished the exhaust and food rack today. I need to do one more pass on the stack but ran out of gas for my MIG. It'll have to wait till next week. Gonna smoke some baby backs this weekend and drink some whiskey. Have a great weekend everybody.

Nice looking fab skills. U no what ur doing. Just curious why everyone has the box coming out the smoker with the exuast on top on it? Is it because it's hard to fab the tube to the smoker? Or maybe no one ever wants to pie cut the tube and turn it
 
It's called a plenum. Helps reduce friction as the smoke exits the smoker. Pie slicing or even using an elbow causes more friction and slows down the flow. I guess it's a personal preference. I'd rather have the plenum than mount the pipe onto the top of the tank.

Oh got ya, trying to talk the smoke into leaving the cc. I was thinking about putting a vacuum line on my exuast to really pull some new smoke through myself. I was going to my stack in the middle but figured I could get a better vacuum with it up at the top. Mines about 1.5" from the top on back wall. I'm Running a 3.5" exuast and was thinking about stepping it to 4" after 1" of the 3.5

If the stack is in the middle or on top of the chamber it is irrelvant as you calculate the lentgh of the stack protruding ABOVE the highest part of the cook chamber.   The smoke doesn't care where it enters as it is going from a high pressure area to low pressure and will always take the path of least resistance. 

I prefer my stacks  enter about 1/2 to 3/4 the way up the cook chamber as it helps balance the temps  vertically inside the cook chamber.

I also factor in  cost for the extra  steel as here in Argentina it is about  x3 the price of in the US. 

I also err on the larger side of the calculations for exhaust .

Thanks for the advice. That's too bad it costs so much. I think it cost to much here already. Stainless is very expensive. Welding rod has doubled in price here the last 3 years
 
Not much to show as of late, been busy with work. I finished up my probe ports. One on each end of the smoker. They are a 1/2" NPT bushing that I TIG brazed into a peice of black pipe with silicon bronze rod. The "T" is a nipple with a slot cut in it for the cable to slip into. Not my design borrowed from Kam59. Although I think I made mine more complicated than they needed to be. I couldn't find any steel 1/2" fittings locally. Which is why I brazed the cast iron fitting.

What thermometers did buy? I need one for mine and wanna get the best ones, no idea which ones those are tho lol. A really big one would be nice so u can see it from inside. Silicon bronze is fun to use

Tel tru for the door and I have a maverick et-732 for the digital.
 
I've done quite a bit to the smoker recently. Although it doesn't really look like it. I installed a drip rail. When I put it in I put some clamps on the door to keep tension as I welded. The weld shrinkage with that clamp pressure cut the gap I had on the bottom of the door in half. I'm going to call it good and just RTV it now. I also moved the counter weight a couple inches closer to the top of the door. Works much better now I can open and close with one finger. The door should weigh about 100 pounds. I still have a lot of little details to wrap up. And originally I wasn't going to put an upper rack in but now I'am going to. I also fabbed up a handle for the CC door.

If anyone is interested the handles I've been using are from some BBQ tools for sale at Walmart. They're only 5 bucks each for the fork. The handle is much bigger than a chipping hammer handle and I like the way they look. The CC handle is 2 of the handles welded together.

Just about done with the fabrication. Finished up the top rack. Put horse shoe handles on the bottom rack. Put the Tel-Tru's in the door. Put the cap on the exhaust. I put a peice of 1" square tube at each end of the cooker to hold the remote probes for smoker temp. I did them this way so you don't have to mess with them when sliding the rack in or out. Still have to deal with the meat probe but at least it's only one this way. A few details to wrap up plus some kind of stand. Then it's on to the trailer part of the build.

Great pictures and progress, thanks for posting so much detail. I have a 120 gallon tank that I'm building a reverse flow on as well. I have a couple questions for you. How many inches off of the middle of the bottom of the tank to the plate did you go? Did you use the Felton's calculator? If so, did you add the 1.5 times size factor to account for the RV design? That's the only part of the calculation that I don't grasp. My tank is 24" diameter, what is yours? Thank you!
 
Mine is 24" as well. My plate is 7.5" off the bottom of the tank. When I ran my numbers through feldons and daves calculator they came up roughly the same. 7.5" was slightly oversize but my firebox is almost 150% what is required. Any questions you have go ahead and ask if I can't answer them someone else will be able to.

Great, thank you! I almost messed up and did 4" from the bottom instead. That would have been bad. I was just eyeballing it, till I found the calculator. I thought that I was undersized with it. At least I can change it now. Thank you for your help.
