I cooked these up Friday evening. Bratwurst are very popular in these parts and most grocery stores make their own in many different flavors. Some of them are good, some are kind of weird. But to each their own, right?

The wife and kids like these and I like them because its a nice simple cook that doesn't require much prep-work.

Very simple: brats of your choice, beer, onion, bell peppers, garlic, salt, pepper and some olive oil.

I saute the vegetables on the grill in the bottom portion of my small dutch oven while the brats are browning.

Boy am I glad Im about to eat because this just made me hungry.

Another great Job. :sausage:

Geezer , I buy a midwest Brat seasoning from sausage maker . If you want to make your own , thats a good flavor for this area . I'm 30 minutes west of St. Louis .

We're south of Jefferson City.

'Round here, they're bathed in beer & onions before they hit the grill.  Called "frying" the brats, even though they're not fried.  If they're being held after the grill, they go back into a beer, onion, & butter bath until served.  Sheboygan brats are served on hard, Bavarian semmel rolls, elsewhere brat buns are used.  Even Costco serves brats here:  same $1.50 deal as the hot dog/Pepsi combo, but you get a Usinger brat instead.  Can't be beat.

Im sure it breaks your heart to go to Costco for one of those.

I may need to go to WI for my next Costco trip. :sausage:
