Smoker Mods

See if you can find a local welder to make your charcoal basket and baffle. Had a friend of a friend make my baffle and my charcoal basket and I was out $40 for materials and a 12 pack for labor.

Those plates I put in, it keeps the CC temps nice and even. When I first bought the smoker, I was very surprised how much the temp differed from one side of the CC to the other despite it being pretty small. One thing the picture doesn't quite show is I used one of those plates as a deflector covering the hole from the firebox to the CC. There are 2 bolts that are on the inside of the CC that are used to connect it to the firebox, I was able to get one of the tuning plates to rest up against those two bolts and create a 45* angle which has helped force the heat down and under the rest of the tuning plates. Also, I don't think clamps are necessary if you get the high temp gasket tape. I only used the tape and have never had any smoke or heat leak out of my door.
