Just picked this smoker up burner needs rebuilt ir new burner?

70.00 buy but 1 of the control valves is stripped where it threads in at and think it's set up for nat.gas so i would need to set it up for propane looks fairly easy if i knew where to get new valves or maybe a aftermarket burner would be easier? Ive always just smoked my ribs etc on a charbroil grill si i am really chomping at bit to get this smoker cleaned up and running.
Being a newbie i probably posted this in wrong forum ughh..

Thanks and here is pic of the burner. I can rebuild main gas tubes,black pipe right? And drill and tap for new controls but as i stated in original post it was setup for natural gas but i need it setup for propane. So not sure if just new controls will be what i need or if i neef tubes slso so if thats the case i may as well just put in a aftermarket burner.

I think it is the tubes and the orfice to change when converting from gas to propane. I would double check with someone that does it though.

The orifice fits into the end of the tube and is usually brass. The tubes will work with either type of gas once you change the orifice. Take the burner to a local propane supplier, not homer depot or lowes, but a propane supply place that delivers bulk propane to homes. Most of them will have what you need.

Thx. Cranky, I couldn't remember, I change out orfices but that was on a BBQ. not a set up like that.

It depends on the burner and device. The one he has, the tubes kind of rest on the orifice. I have an old table top burner I'll shoot a pic of in a bit and make sure what I told him is correct, but his pic looks just like the burner in a commercial unit a guy here has, we rebuilt his a year or so ago.

Yes the control knobs have fittings on them which i am assuming is the orifice,small brass piece with small diameter hole in it. So if the tubes will work then i need new orifices on control knobs but one control knobs threads are stripped. Do your saying take to maybe local gas company and have them set me up?
I see alot of people using round aftermarket burners also but if u guys think its best to keep it the way it came then i will try to get r done.. anybody use these smokers and like em?

Yep, brass cap looking thing with a tiny hole.

The propane supply outfit should have what you need, or can tell you who does.

The burner you have was designed for that pit, it'll provide good heat dispersion that a round burner may not provide. I'd try and repair the original before I would convert over to an off the shelf burner.
