This is my first smoked meatloaf and all I can say is OMG. Even the wife is considering rewnewing our marriage agreement. Really ? SeenRed, all I can say is thank you.....er not necessarily about the marriage renewal...but about posting the recipe. ...you know.....Here's SeenRed's original post http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/t/258006/reds-smoked-meatloaf-qview-heavy

Sautéed the onions and red bell peppers before mixing it into the batch. Had issues keeping the weber temp down in the mid 200's but somehow survived. Used Pecan chunks. Smoked it for 2.5 hours. Brushed SeenRed's glaze on and then back into the weber for another 45 minutes.

A little garlic mash potatoes, and fresh green beans topped with some gravy. Belch!! Going to freeze the other loaf for a future meal.

Nice smoke Craig! Smoked meatloaf is the only way to cook a meat loaf!

Have you ever made a salmon loaf? If not you should, and smoke it.

Tasty looking meatloaf! Once you smoke one, it's hard to go back. It takes them to a whole new level.

The wife and I made one in the oven after we smoked a few and we were like "Meh"

Thanks all for the kind words and points.   It was suppose to rain all day yesterday so I had no plans on doing a smoke but when I woke up, forecast was clear until 5pm, so off to the market I went for some ground beef, etc.    A very fun way to spend a superbowl day, watching the weber and pulling weeds?   Weeds?,  Really?  Yup!

Howdy Craig!  I'm sorry to have missed this for so long...looks terrific!  Mrs. Red and I felt the same way...our old meatloaf recipe was OK...just a little boring.  But smoking it puts it over the top!  We won't cook meatloaf any other way from now on...

Nicely done Brother...Point!

Cmayna I'm not sure how I missed it either.... But I have to say it looks YUMMMY!!!!!Way to go....  Thx Red.... And sorry about the marriage agreement..... lololol

What I really liked was the idea of making two smaller loafs so I could freeze one of them.  For just the two of us, this was a lot of loaf.  Got a text from the daughter yesterday saying after she tried one of our meatloaf leftovers, that she want's the other loaf.    Dang, better make plans with Mr. Weber.

SR,  I (we) really appreciate you sharing that great recipe.

Question, cuz I wanna do these Friday on my UDS, what is it you set them on in smoker/grill, and where can I get something similar?

If you don't want to spend anything, form the loaf on a piece of foil/plate/platter/etc.  Take 2 of your round grates and put them one atop the other, so that they form a checkerboard pattern:  you can ziptie the two together so that they don't separate.  Lay the grates on top of the loaf, gently flip the whole thing so that the loaf is now on the grate assembly, then carefully lower the whole thing into your UDS.

I already had a vegetable grill grid that I used for my loaf, but it is rectangular that I use on a rectangular grill that may not fit in your drum.  Steel with baked enamel finish:  well oiled before it went in, and cleaned right up afterwards.

Hey Craig, I'm really glad you and your family liked it so much!  But honestly you're giving me too much credit...As I mentioned in my original thread, I was inspired by others here at SMF who've posted smoked meatloaf threads in the past.

As others said, you can purchase those Teflon-coated, non-stick grill mats from several different sources, including A-Maze-N Products.  I use a wire cooling/roasting rack...which you can find just about anywhere that carries cookware.  Here's a pic of one I got recently:

And as Groucho said, you could use a veggie grilling pan.  I've also heard of guys using a disposable aluminum loaf pan, and poking holes in the bottom and sides.

So anyway, lots of different ways of getting the job done...
