So, I used to buy Chuck Roasts with the very marbled "lower part" in my terms.

Some sell it as "Chuck eye".

I taste it to be even better than Rib Steak, the lower part, not the top.

On sale at like, ?, by memory, 2.99/ lb ??

Then, we moved to a very small TX town, with one grocer, 35 miles south of Hemphill, TX , "Brookshire Brothers"

" Chuck roast", "Blade", "& bone", or whatever, goes for $6.09 / Lb.

NEVER goes on sale cheaper here.

Big Briskets will go on sale Maybe "packer cut"??? not close to that, so I dont know, at 1.99 $

The big pork loin (not those tiny big buck marinated things), like maybe 4-5 lb, go on sale for 1.99.

We are fortunate in Bone in Rib Steak, semi Porterhousish T bones, and "NY Strips" goes on sale regularly for $5.99, sometimes 4.99, AND you gotta look at the cuts, IF you're lucky, marbled, otherwise bright red lean meat with a small fat border.

Shoe soles.

Big variance day to day in the foam trays.

Ground Chuck like 3.99/ lb, but very often on sale for 3.29 or 2.99.

Those are our prices here, deep east TX at the louisiana border.

I REALLY miss HEB sale prices in Rockport, TX where we lived before.

So I guess I'm asking, are my local prices high, or similar to other areas??

I know beef prices have increased, and O, my chicken whole 3 part wings are $2.69, Grandma would be spinning.        Marc

Man, don't move to the PNW!

80/20 burger starts at $3.99/pound. That's the stuff in the plastic tube!

Go to "Buthcher" and the grass fed burger is $10+/pound

Steaks, roasts in the grocery pricey!

NoNo No - I NEVER buy the ground in the tube.

Only God knows what's in that., even though maybe cheaper,

My ground I buy is done totally literally in house, looking like worms in the tray.

Then I cook burgers totally rare, pasty in center, from that.

Still alive after years, , no Hospital visits.

So beef is spendy everywhere??   Marc

We buy almost all our meat at Sam's or Costco.

Sam's is a 1 hour drive each way & Costco is 1 hour 20 minutes.

It's worth the drive!

Here in Northeast PA

80/20 ground beef is $1.99 lb
Pork shoulders bone-in .99¢ lb
Brisket or prime steak filets like ribeye or tenderloin are +10$ a lb.

Lean cuts like London broil or a top round roast are anyway between $4.99-7.99$ lb.

These are local supermarket prices. I'm not sure about Sam's, as I don't have a membership....The closest Costco is 80 miles away.

Al - If you're willing to drive that far, have you been to Restaurant Depot, East side of Tampa?

I've been to a few locations, great place for alot of things.

Not everything, but so many things so inexpensive.

NO membership fee, but you do need a copy of ANY kind of  business registration.

Not all things, but MANY, can be purchased single, full case not mandatory. Marc
