Hello All...

I've been reading and watching the threads here for quite some time. I was introduced to the a-maze-n products by reading here.

My smoking history:

First real experience with smoking was doing homemade venison sausage and snack sticks. I borrowed a friends MES 30 smoker 3 yrs ago and my first run was pretty good all things considered.

Since then ive been using my holland grill and smoke tube for adding smoke flavor to while grilling and borrowing my dad's lp smoker.

My parents got me a MES 30 smoker as a gift this year. Needless to say i have been scouring the forums here for information. I think i have a gen 2 (model 20077517), front controls and top vent,  which i have read there seem to be various issues with. Bearcarver has posted some great stuff on the issues.

Seems the 2.5s (bluetooths) are the rigs to run... outside of the bluetooth range/connectivity issues, which don't concern me as i'll be running a maverick system.  I called masterbuilt and they said the unit i have is in fine working order... i just don't want to season the unit only to have it start showing its demons and then get into warranty work. Don't get me wrong, i am tinkerer by nature but this seems like a big spend to have to rebuild it. I know i got it as a gift so im not "invested" at all to this point but i want a functioning smoker for all to enjoy the spoils...

Anybody know if they started to rectify the issues outside of the bluetooth rigs? Or if the replacement parts are up to the task?

I've been waiting to crank up some great food...

Thank you for all for your contributions.

Mike

Welcome Mike from Minnesota, sounds like you have some pretty good smoking knowledge to share. I have a Holland grill that I was thinking about using for cold smoking using the A-maze-N pellet smoker. Maybe you can tell me how that worked for you?
