[/IMG]I have been searching for a long time for a Weber bullet. Been using a landman 40" electric.
Today one showed up on letgo. Of course it was no were close to were I live but I went and got it. I haven't seen used ones on craigslist unless they were smaller or over $250. I got this 18" for $150. Now I am wondering if I jumped the gun since the inside grates are a little rusty and not sure if that is normal. I hope the pictures load if not I'll do it when I get to a computer.
Let me know your thoughts. Thanks, Jim

You can always buy new grates if they won't clean up but they should clean up pretty easily. The one pic looks good!

I like to clean my grates on the gas grill. A little high heat and brush it up it should clean up.

I believe I can clean them up somewhat. If they are rusty is it still safe to cook on would you replace them.

I think I would spray them with oil & build a nice hot fire.

Let it run for a couple of hours & then brush the grates with a wire brush.

I think most of that rust will come off.

If not the new grates are cheap, maybe $20.

That rust should come off. If not go with Al's method.

If not as mentioned the replacements are pretty inexpensive. Ace hardware, if you have one, stocks replacements for Weber. If they don't have them in stock they can order them in.

I use my mini-WSM's so much I've had to replace the grates every few years!
