I am TOTALLY new to grinding and smoking.
I am going to start with grinding my venison.
Need a suggestion on where to start.
I have a hand grinder. If I get interested.....it will wind up as an electric with a processing station.....for 3 deer a yr.....just cuz.
Smoker will be next.....baby steps.
I hafta work sometimes...
Merry Christmas.

BCD3, I like a 70/30 venison mix to pork trim or butt. I grind the mixture twice through a 3/16 or 1/4 grinder plate.  On your first grind you sort of put three chunks of venison and one chunk of pork and you'll get a good mix going. I too started out with a hand grinder( #32) and it has to be clamped down. They work well but if you are doing 3 deer a year you will go motorized. The beauty of processing your own meat is YOU add what you want want and package as YOU want. Have fun  with you new endeavor!
