Hello, im Stephen. Hope all is well out there this evening. Happy Holidays to all. Well i found this forum looking for ideas on building a smoke house. Me and my uncle built one a while back with some left over building materials and it works good for him but i really wanted my own since i now live in the country and have the space for one. I love to hunt and fish and process my own meat from my deer i harvest especially after not liking what i pay for from many meat processors. Here in South Texas we dont have as much cold weather to smoke in but we make do when we get the chance;) I usually just use my commercial dehydrator but i think that will be used less often now;)  I have seen many amazing smokehouses on here and the goods you all produce in them made me want to drop all other projects and get this one knocked out of the way. I wanted to make one of cedar and build the firebrick firebox off to the side but i didnt want a permanent one just yet. As i looked i found several made from pallets and due to getting parts in on a weekly basis on nice pallets i decided i would use them for my wood mostly.  I knew it would take a little extra work but would turn out perty neat and unique once done. Well it took quite a bit more work than i thought and i have a few more things to do to it but its finally done after a lil over a month of weekends and working in the dark;) I must say its no work of art but for what i worked with it looks as it will work very well. Here is one pic of it and i have plenty more to upload through out my build. Inside ive done wooden dowel closet rod and have one level up top for now and seeing how good it builds smoke using my smoke barrel i might add one more level down lower. I have been told to just smoke up top but having smoke down low too may work just fine.  I have done the fire barrel off the side but also have some amazn smoke extendable tubes but when i tried to use them in side last weekend the wind was blowing so hard it barely smoked inside and my barrel smoke didnt even go inside. Part of it was i needed to readjust the door boards from shrinking and having big cracks and my one side overlap boards needed to be screwed down more. Now it seams i got it a lil tighter but have plenty of leaks to let it naturally vent. I also got a redi check wireless thermometer to use and tested it last night smoking it in and only raised temp about 13 degrees from when i started and was going for a few hours with the thermometer in. Hopefully i will get some positive critiquing and or tips. Like i said its no work of art most of the supplies i had around but bought a bunch of screws some new tin, 2x4s and closet rods plus the barrel supplies. I probably spent more than i thought i was but oh well i think it will work just fine;)  Well i think  thats it for now. Hope you all like my idea of a smokehouse as i have been inspired by the many i have seen here. Thanks and Happy Holidays!!!

Welcome, and thanks for the picts.  I thought about doing something like what you have accomplished, but decided to do other things.  Wow that is nifty.

I am sure others will be in here to comment also that have some experience..
