I am from sothern,IL and use a Brinkman smoke'n grill. I have used many diffrent woods my favorite is sassafras. I have used it on turkey and hamburgers with great results. The first time i used sassafras was at a rendezvous om a turkey. People would come up and ask what kind of wood I was useing because the smoke smelled so good. When it was done everyone camped arround us brought a dish to pass and it was quickly reduced to bones. Everyone loved the rootbeer bird as it came to be known.
