Has anyone had any experience withsmokers? Seems as though they might have been discontinued. I have an opportunity to get one with minor surface rust for a decent price. The model is

JMan2 that unit looks good. I haven't used that particular unit but the offset smokers are great to use and produce great Q.

Thanks for the feedback.

It seems pretty sturdy and well built. Only thing is it seems like a family use type of smoker vice something you could use for a party/get together. Total cooking space in the cooking chamber is 432 sq inches. Fits about 2 full racks of spare ribs or 1 brisket without much room left to spare. A little weird that the firebox almost has the same total grilling space as the cooking chamber at 306 sq inches.

Hi JMan...for $50 I don't think you can go wrong.  Looks like a pretty solid pit for that price, and according to the link in your first post, they go for $900 brand new, so that seems like a heck of a deal.  But you're right about capacity.  Doesn't look like you could get enough meat in it at one time to feed a big crowd.  It's a little hard for me to tell from that 2nd photo...are those rib racks, or some kind of 2nd shelf/grate?  Either would increase your capacity.  If that's not a 2nd grate, for a few bucks, you could probably fabricate one that would basically double the capacity.

Thanks for the feedback. Those are rib racks, I'm going to look into adding a second grate.
