Rancid Fat?

Was reading online (not on SMF) that pork fat should only be kept in the freezer for no more than a month or it will go rancid.  Anyone ever noticed this?  Whenever I smoke a butt, I save and freeze the fat for sausage projects and don't know if I should just chuck it now since some of it is pushing 6 months in the freezer.
 
MJ, I have used pork fat that was vac sealed and in the freezer for 5-6 months with no noticable taste difference in the sausage.
 
Use ASAP but vac sealed will be fine for 6 months. Fat is a primary flavor in meat. If all fat went rancid in a Month, any meat frozen over 30 days would taste rancid. Fat just thrown in a ziplock or improperly wrapped has a short lifespan...JJ
