Recently acquired this old air tank, its 9 feet long and going to make a great smoker. I've been wanting to do this for a while and im probably going to mount this on a utility trailer of some sort. I am looking for suggestions from others that have done this before regarding a firebox and if I should do an offset or not. Any helpful information would be appreciated as I have never done this before but I am good at fabrication and have all tools available to do so. Thanks in advance.

Hey HG,

Welcome to SMF. I started a build, not done yet, using an air tank.
My tank was very old and sat horizontal. The bottom had rusted and was thin at spots. I decided to flip it and put the better metal on the bottom, then patched up the thin spots. Check your wall thickness too. Some air tanks are very thin and may not hold heat very well.

Al provided the best link to start off your planning.

RF, offset, style is all up to you. 9 foot would make a very large cooker

Good luck on your build,

RG
