Relatively new to smoking. I use a 22'' weber grill for my smoker. I live in Indiana. I have thought about getting an electric smoker, but haven't pulled the trigger yet.
 
Yes you should at least consider the WSM. As Al says it is simple to use and produces great results. A single charge of good quality briquettes will give you 12 hours plus at 230 F and it will need very little attention. It will both hot and cold smoke and with the 22" WSM you will be able to feed an army - well maybe not quite - but it will feed most large family gatherings with ease.
