Hello All,

Just purchased a 22" Weber Smokey Mountain on Amazon and received it today.  It is actually a birthday present to myself from my wife and kids...they never know what to get me, so I usually pick out something for myself so they don't have to shop

.  Birthday isn't for another month, but I convinced my wife I should set it up early so I can practice before I decide what to do for our annual Christmas eve dinner (usually around 24 people).  I am thinking both a brisket and pork loin, but we will see.

I am so excited to have this, I keep looking out the window onto the deck just to look at it!

Anyway, not sure what I am going to try first.  I probably won't get to break it in until next weekend anyway.  I have been reading recipes online for weeks now and have so many I want to try.

I have enjoyed reading the forum here in anticipation of getting the smoker.  I am in Cincinnati, OH by the way.

Welcome to the forum djrjr!! Congratulations on your Birthday gift. Your family rocks for sure. The weber smokey mountain is a great smoker. I have had my 18.5" for 3 years and love it. I just got my 22.5" about month ago and couldn't be happier. Be sure to look around the forums and ask questions. I suggest looking into a wireless thermometer for next purchase. I have been using the Maverick et-733 for a long time and it's been good to me. However I do have my eyes on the new Thermoworks "smoke" wireless thermometer.

Be sure to share some q-view of your smoked goodness and Happy Birthday!!!!!

Welcome to the forum!

Happy birthday & congrats on the new smoker!

Looking forward to seeing it in action!
