Hi everyone, I've been looking around for a couple months now, and I like what I've been seeing on this forum, so I decided to join up.
I live in Nebraska, USA love to cook in the kitchen, as well as on the grill (gas and charcoal). I got an old Coldspot "ice box" for a 30 pack of beer from an acquaintance a couple months ago, and I am in the process of converting it after much internal debate over whether to restore and sell or convert. Conversion wins because - 1. I love smoked meat and 2. I can't find much of a market for restored ice boxes.
When I say "ice box", that is exactly what I mean. This unit has no outside power source and is insulated with 1" or 1-1/4" solid wood. Although a little dirty, it's in fantastic shape.
All metal with the exception of the black trim around the door and frame, those strips are a hard plastic and I will probably need to replace them with metal. That's one of my questions. I will post to the proper discussion group with all of my questions, I just wanted to introduce myself and let everyone know what I've got to work with.
See ya in the forums everyone!
