Blackened Ribeye

Picked up nice ribeyes last Friday, I have been thinking about blackened steaks lately, and thought I would give these a try.


Used Tones Cajun seasoning as a blackening rub.


Put in the smoker for 45mins with apple and cherry, then onto a smokin hot buttered pan. Need to do this outside because it really smokes!


Didn’t get any cut pics, and it came out medium well, a little more done that I wanted. I need get a better thermometer, just ordered one today.


The steaks were mighty tasty and a great Saturday dinner.


I am upgrading my blackening pan to a Griswold cast iron, should arrive in a few days to continue on the blackening quest. I love blackened!

Looks like you needed the new pan! Can't wait to see the results! Bet the steak was tasty,I rarely blacken anything the wife is unable to handle barely spicy food she would cry after one bite of a blackened anything!

WE just had Ribeyes on the Grill an Hour ago, and yours still makes me :drool. (Unless it's just that I'm getting old???:biggrin: )

Great looking steak!


I use Cajun spice on all kinds of things, but for some reason I have never tried it on steak.


Next steak I have I will do it this way!
