So i was at the store i saw a sale on chicken leg quarters. They were $4.90 for a 10# bag. I figured for that price i could smoke and give them away. Then i thought, that is what i'll do! So I smoked them and gave away half of them to one of my neighbors. But of course i got some Q-view of the process!

First, i took off all the skin..i don't like skin and i think the smoke gets in the meat better without it.

Next i seasoned the chicken with zesty lemon seasoning from Weber...

Then, i put it on the smoker after it sit in the fridge for a few hours...

After that, i rotated then chicken in the smoker moving the top to the bottom and vice versa. when i did this i put half with homemade sauce i made with blue berry preserves. First the chicken without the and then the chicken with....

those pics were the IT of about 150 for the non sauced and 160 degrees for the sauced. so i put the chicken back on the smoker for another hour until the IT was 170. this is how it was when i took them off the smoker..

The sauced on the left and the non sauced on the right.

The non sauced is going to the across the street neighbors for their dinner and the sauced is going to be our dinner tonight!

Recipe for the sauce...

1 1/4 ketchup

1/8 cup lemon juice

1/8 cup molasses

1/4 stick of butter/margarine

4 TBS of blue berry preserves

1 tsp of salt

1 tsp of black pepper

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp onion powder

bring to simmer in pot for 20 minutes on med-low heat. let sit in the fridge for 2-3 hours then strain if using a squeeze bottle.

thanks for looking! this should keep up relations with the neighbors!

Happy Smoking,

Sounds good and very generous of you. My current neighbors are Hindu Vegetarians. So nothing out of my smoker leaves the house unless my Brother finds out I am smoking something...JJ
