I can not help with the ID.  Everyone knows I have this "bee in my bonnet" about galvanised.  NO! there is no scientific proof to back me up; I just would not use it.  IF you can confirm the interior is stainless and not galvanised, depending on price; I'd drive 200 miles to get it!  It looks in good shape.  Good luck.

Thanks kindly for the reply and references! Once I put eyes n hands on unit I'll make the decision to pull trigger. Looking to contributing to forum.

So I pick the unit up working for < $100...  Turns out it is an all aluminium Cres-cor frig.  I have removed the insulation thus far.

Heating source:  18 cu.ft interior

I have pondered both DIY and manufactured units (SmokeDaddy Pro).  At this point I am leaning towards a PID controlled 220v / 4000w build with this element:    this will fit nicely in the newly vacated compressor compartment.

I like the idea of a automatic PID controlled gas/LP powered rig but that seems a little more involved.

I have read just about every post on here concerning electric builds from 110v/1500w to 220v/5000w.   I am wanting to hear from the experienced builders here to give there 2 pennies...   Post away!

Hello.  I can't help with the PID.  I am still using caveman style.

I know the PID's are popular.  Glad. you got that unit.  Looks like it will make a cracking smoker.  Good luck.  Keep Smokin!
