Long story short: I had a Chargriller Duo, but was too big for our new townhome. I got a Chargriller Gas only model (for Free!), but still have the fire box from my duo.

There is a cut out on the side of the gas model to mount the fire box, do you think I could use this grill as a standard gas grill, and smoke in it using the side fire box?

Ill do some mods and things, I have the gasket kit, and ill have to rig up a way to control the smoke out the stacks, but more just wondering whether you think smoking in it might possibly ruin the grill for regular gas use, like if it would gum up the holes that the flames come out, or ruin the igniters...?

Ive got other smokers, so its not like im desperate, just wondering if I can put this fire box to use, or if I should just give it to my moms Husband for his Duo?
