Just got my Vortex today and had to try some food...
Wings dusted with Tony's, Tri Tip dusted with Tatonka dust and a hunk o hickory over the Vortex.
The Tatonka dust came free with the purchase of the Vortex. I paid about 34 dollars for the Vortex and was quite unimpressed by the appearance of the product. It's just a thin sheet of stainless tack welded together to form a cone. I am quite impressed by it's performance! It is a bargain. A chimney of Kingsford lasted a long time.
Tri-tip, taters and wings! The wings have a crispy skin and an awesome flavor. The Tri-tip won't get sliced until later, but it smells amazing. It was smoked till 125 and then reverse seared over the Vortex. The wings were at 185 when pulled. My woman don't want no jiggly parts!
Thanks Al! I appreciate the point!
Thanks b-one! I only sliced a few slices, and they were eaten very quickly. I've still got the rest of the tri-tip to slice. The tatonka dust was very tasty. I'm pleased with the Vortex.
Here's what I sent my daughter home with. She is now a huge fan of Tatonka dust! She couldn't stop talking about that tri tip.
Mike thanks for making me drool I have finally found a Tri Tip and will be doing it this week for sure Points For you
Wings and Tri Tip!! Two of my favorite things. They look great! Wife for me a vortex for Father's Day and I can't stop using it. Hahaha definitely agree that it appears unimpressive at first but the results are great!!
Thanks Richie! Looking forward to your Tri Tip.
Thank you worktogthr! I appreciate the points.
It doesn't get any better than that pic.
Thanks Adam! I had the leftovers tonight, still awesome.
Thanks MossyMo! I'm doing some Vortex wings with the Buffalo seasoning tonight. I may be placing an order later!
Thanks Case! I can't explain how it works so well, but it is just a cone of stainless. I used a chimney of kingsford tonight, cooked wings for an hour. I removed the Vortex and spread the coals and they were only 50% used at the most! It hurt my heart letting the coals waste away with nothing else to cook.
