Love this site!

Okay, first off if metal is not part of this forum please direct me to where I need to go. I'm very new (never had a smoker) but love welding and want a project this summer. Also love wood smoked meat.

I'm trying to save money by not having to do stuff over because I don't know anything. I will have many many questions and will annoy you all with one question at a time (sorry about that!).

My plan is to have a 3'x3'x1' smoker with an off set fire pit (not sure if that's correct term.).

Starting on the offset more so for learning purposes than anything else. Would like to the best dimensions on the fire pit (?) for heat and smoke.

Thanks all and sorry for the incorrect terminology or posting on the wrong forum.

Why only a 1' height?   For the price of a few bricks make it much bigger.

When you get good at BBQ you will notice your friends will multiple as well, so build it big.
