Hello all, First time smoker from Minnesota here.  My dad recently purchased the Masterbuilt Sportsman Elite 40in Digital Smokehouse to get us started.  He is mainly looking to do Jerky, Beef Sticks and sausage, and I am really looking to experience it all!  Hopefully this is just a stepping stone to some more advanced smoking!  We will have it up and running this weekend and plan to start with some basic ribs to get us going.  Any tips and tricks would be much appreciated!  I have spent the last 3-4 days pouring over the wealth of information in the forums, and I am sure glad that I found them!  The trouble is there is so many different recipes and preferences for ribs that it is hard to pick just one to go by.  I think our plan is just to start with some simple BB's and go from there.  So any information that anyone could provide would be very helpful, and I look forward to hearing what everyone has to say!  Thank you all for your time!

Jeff,

Welcome, I do ribs a lot, and I've found you have to start at a basic point then work on cook time/method and rub ingredients to get where you like your ribs.  For BB's 2-2-1 method is a good place to start. Just like everything on this forum, there are differences of opinion so find some ideas here and build from there.  Plenty of people to answer your questions.

Welcome to the forum Jeff!

Everybody has their own way of doing ribs, as you have seen on here.

Check my signature line "Perfect ribs" thread.

You may get some ideas from there.

Good luck!
