Just had to post this: Brian Skelly made a pot of Chili with some leftover Brisket, I followed his lead and also made a pot.

We were talking about how Brisket makes the best Chili.

This Chile is very close to my "Gary’s Texas Style Chili" recipe

2 lbs - Chopped or cubed Smoked Brisket

2 cans Tomato sauce or Whole Tomatoes (I use my Wife's canned Tomatoes)

1 sm. to med. onion  chopped pretty small

2 cloves of garlic - more or less to your taste

½ cup chili powder

1 - 2 tablespoons Paprika

1 teaspoon Red pepper   (or to your taste)

2 tablespoons of Cumin

1 teaspoon of salt  (or to taste)

1 tablespoon of sugar

1 cup of water

1 ½ tablespoons of Masa flour  (You can use corn starch)

Saute onions in a little oil, when about done add garlic (Chopped or pressed)

Add Brisket, Tomatoes and remaining ingredients except for Masa flour.

Let simmer on low for at least an hour, stirring occasionally.

Mix Masa (You can use corn starch) with a little cold water to make a thin paste.

Stir into Chili and let simmer for another 30 min.

This Chili is really great, the smoked Brisket really kicks up the flavor profile,

Try it You Won't be Sorry.

I do love a Bowl of Texas Red! Looks good...JJ

Yep, your right. My niece asked for my Chili recipe after she made it I asked how they liked it?

She said it was good but added beans, I said Beans !!!    Don't tell anybody that's my recipe !!

Gary

I agree, chili has to have beans.

Great job Gary, and thanks for the recipe. I will have to add beans thou. Ha Ha

Points for this.
I know you Yankee boys love your beans LOL

Thanks Adam

Another thing I do and quite a few BBQ joints do is add chopped Brisket or Pork to their Baked beans

Sure kicks em up a notch

Gary

That looks Awesome, Gary!!

I could easily go for a big bowl of that !!

I'm used to Red Beans added, but I could rough it.

I think we're used to adding beans up here, because we don't have the big herds of Doggies waiting around for Rowdy & Mr Favor to drive them North. So we stretch it with the Beans.

That's Funny I have had Chili with Beans and some I liked But I've never put beans in mine

What I do though is take my BBQ smoked beans and add some chopped brisket or pork to them

Chili Tonight and a little cornbread too

Gary

That pot 'o chili looks terrific Gary!  We love chili made with chopped brisket around here!  This inspires me...I haven't made chili in a while, and I'm pretty sure I've still got plenty of smoked brisket in the freezer...hmmm

I like to do this too, Gary.  My favorite smoked leftover for baked beans is chopped or cubed rib tips I trim off my spares...but any leftover smoked pork of beef really takes baked beans to the next level IMHO!

Points for the chili qview!

Thanks Red.

A little Cornbread to go with the Chili

Hey Gary, thanks for posting this recipe. I have a brisket on deck for the weekend so this should put the leftovers to good use. My 14yo is a chili and brisket fanatic so she going to flip her s... As far as beans go I still have some pulled rib tips left and since I pretty porked out at the moment I think I'll take y'all's suggestion and just throw them in the beans and stick em under the brisket. Thanks yall
