Want to build my own Smoker

I was able to acquire this Aluminum cabinet a while back. I currently use it to keep my Electric Smoker nice and dry.

I would like pros and cons of using this and some sound advice. I have read several threads around the net but most contradict each other.

I can get expanded wire and angle to make the grates. I can get a burner from local hardware store.

But I am not sure what type I should get and if this cabinet is worth the effort.

Thanks for the help.

Hello.  I am gonna give you the simple answer:  Read the fridge freezer smoker builds.  That cabinet is not insulated so I would recommend doing that.  Other than that I would say post your ideas and let folks comment.  Keep Smokin!

Thanks for the reply.

I am thinking about lining the inside with this material. Unless someone has a better material I can use.

Then I will get some 1/2X1/2 angle and make a frame to fit and weld some expanded metal to it for my racks.

I will cut a round hole in the bottom and set it on top a frame I am designing to make to fit a square turkey cooker. I am replacing the burner in it with one that is low pressure.

Once I get it all set up I will post follow up picks.

Well I order some 1" Kaowool from Ebay.

Will go with some Aluminum Flashing to cover the material on the inside.

I have the angle ordered now I have to get the Expanded Metal ordered so I can make the grates.

Got a KingKooker Low Pressure burner on order.

May take some time but will report back once its set up.
