Ribs, Pulled Pork, Brisket, Chicken, Turkey is a breeze with a MES, the temp control is great. Get a Maverick themocouple with the MES and your set to turn out some great Q.

Completely agree, for $400 (+TTL) you can get the Masterbuilt 40 inch from Sam's Club and the A-maze-in Pellet smoker, a rib rack or two and a sampler of wood pellets/chips. Based on my research that is exactly what I bought today. I already have a good thermometer to calibrate the smoker. If i didn't I'd probably pick a mid range temp (215-225) and see how it turned out.
For more info search for Bearcarver and his testing with the MES 40, convinced me that it was the way to go.
P.S. this is my first post on the forum, I have been smoking meat for a couple of decades in a Webber Kettle grill, finally gave up and made the plunge before the Memorial day festivities (16lb brisket, 2 rack of ribs, pork butt and 10 lbs chicken leg quarters)
