Newbie from New Jersey

Hey everyone, I'm Bill; I'm 32 years old from souther NJ, USA. I've grilled on propane before but I'm planning to pick up a smoker because I love ribs and that's the best way to cook 'em. I'm looking at the Weber Smokey Mountain as I hear that's a good one, but I came to this forum for advice in that regard, as well as info on the smoking process.

Bill Welcome to SMF the WSM is a great smoker,I have the 18.5" with the BBQ-Guru.You can use the WSM without it it is easy to control the heat.Look inthe pork section you will find all sorts of post using the WSM.Check the Group Section also.

Welcome to the forum Bill!

 

You just can't beat a WSM.

 

They are very easy to use & a great smoker to learn on.

 

If you go to BBQ comps you will see some of the teams using them.

 

They put out great Q.

Welcome from SC, Bill. It's good to have you on this site. A WSM is a good starter. However, if you can work out the budget, an offset will give you the wood flavor more than any other type of cooker.

Welcome to the Forum Rendakor!
I've never had a WSM but a lot of people here swear by them. I started with propane & recently went to an offset.
Try the WSM to get your feet wet and don't be afraid to ask questions!
