New to smoking

Hello everyone. I've been doing occasional grilling over the years, but I want to do more and start smoking. I have a Weber Genesis LP Gas Grill that works well for my grilling needs, but I haven't learned how to get a good smoke out of it. I also have a Brinkman Gourmet Electric Smoker that hasn't worked in a few years, but after buying a new element and replacing my GFCI outlet, I'm going to give it away because the GFCI keeps tripping when the element heats up. So I'm looking for a new smoker so I can do briskets and ribs.

Welcome, glad you found this site.

Remember that pictures of your ribs and brisket

are good things.

Welcome to the forum.

Glad to have you with us.

Since you already have a Weber grill, you may want to consider a Weber Smokey Mountain Smoker.

They are very easy to use & a perfect smoker to learn on.

Thanks for the tip SmokinAl. I was looking at the Orion, but after reading more reviews on it and then the Weber Smokey Mountain you recommend, I'm now leaning toward the WSM. Even though the Orion looks easy to use, it looks like it really won't give me the smoke flavor I want. As many of the posts say. If I want to do it right, I need to do it low and slow. Thanks again.

Hey and welcome to the site.  The WSM is a solid performer and easy to use.  I was looking at the Orion to take camping, but for at home you'll get a lot more out of the Weber.  Good luck with your search for a new smoker and keep on smokin.
