GMG Daniel Boone WIFI

Hey All,

New member from Canada here.  I did some searching ( I know how forums hate the news guys coming in and ignoring that search button ;P)  but was unable to come up with anything similar to my situation.

Here's the deal.  I purchased my smoker brand new last week, set it up, and did the initial burn in.  All seemed well... until the next morning.  No power to the display?  When I shut it off, I did use the wifi app to shut it off, not sure if that makes a difference at all.

I checked the fuse (looked fine but replaced it anyhow) checked all connections, tested my plug. Everything seems fine.  I know the power is getting to the control panel because the giant heat sink on the back gets hella hot.  I know it might be a long shot, but is there anything anyone can think of that I'm missing here?

GMG (US, the canada warranty claim was completley useless) has been A+ about this by the way, I have a new control panel on route to me.  I bought the grill 2 weeks early in hope to smoke some ribs for this up coming mothers day.

I did notice my oven thermometer was about 100 degrees hotter then the display on the control panel on the initial burn in as well.  I had it set at 350 and thermometer read 450, i did have the infuser open as well though, so I wasnt thinking too far into this.

This is the 2015 model with the stainless heat box at the bottom.

Id like to thank everyone for their input in advance, and I am really looking forward to being here and trying out all your awesome tips and recipes.

It sounds to me like you have a bad controller.  I've got no other ideas than to do what you did and contact GMG.  See how the new one performs and go from there.   Sorry I can't be of any more help.

No problem at all, I didn't really expect that there was anywhere else I could go with this. Just thought it was worth a shot.

Thank you for your input. Not dogging the cooker at all, seems like a decent little unit for the price for sure!

Dog it all you want - I've got a Rec Tec.  ; )

Seriously - no knocks on the GMG from me.  Once they sort out all of their issues, I think the wifi will be a great thing.  They have gone through a heck of a lot of versions of their firmware already, that's for sure.  They'll get it soon.

Sounds like they have great customer service.

That's always a plus.

For her up and running and did my first smoke, baby back ribs with the 3-2-1 method.

Not sure at what point in time this picture was at as I pulled a piece when they were done and rushed in to serve them up.

My old man, my father in law and I are re doing my roof so I had some hungry men to feed. They turned out amazing; you will have to take my word for it because I didn't take a pic of the final product :)

It's kind of like a pat on the back for doing a good job, posting something funny, being helpful, posting an interesting thread, posting a good pic, etc.
it's a thumb at the bottom right of a post. You can look at your profile and read what people wrote in your profile for the post. There isn't really anything else to it.
