Some UDS pre-build thoughts

Check to see how the bowl fits the bottom of the drum. 
Thanks for that tip.  Still pondering which way I will go, but it gives me more options.

Looks like the Kamado Joe slider intake is arriving Friday (very convoluted process from some site called Appliances Connection).

Also, did some looking around for paint and think I may go with a single stage polyurethane with hardener.  Lots of colors, glossy, and *should* (fingers crossed) be fine with smoking temps (no plans to grill on it).

Will probably be another month till I get on with it.  I'm slow, slothful, and have other stuff I got to get done before too long...

Dave and case have you covered. One thing I would not do is over engineer your uds. They work the best as simple as possible. Trust me. I had planned on getting a domed lid and all but after 3 years plus and many perfect smokes I will just leave it the way it is.
