Hi, I am looking forward to being a part of SMF and learning much. Just this past weekend bought a char griller with side box and have already started to experiment. So far results have been really pleasing.

A couple of questions, though; where can i buy wood in chunks or splits? My lowes has only chips.  Also, I have already read in SMF that there are some simple modifications that can be done to make this unit a better smoker, where might i find that. At first glance I couldn't find it but will look again.

As about me, I recently moved from Florida to northern VA. Retired from law enforcement and looking for work up here as i start a new phase of my life.

Thanks again for the add.

Welcome from SC. It's good to have you on this great site. Check out the smokers section and you should be able to enter the name and model of your smoker and get some ideas and tips on mods. As for chunks and splits, Ace hardware should have both. The splits will actually be fireplace wood, but they are small enough to cut in half with a chop saw or chain saw. Then you can split them smaller. If you want an easy way to split wood, google kindling Kutter. I have one and it's very easy to use.

Good luck and good smokin', Joe
