Love the color of the liquor/berry concoction so far...

I plan on doing a second filtering, through a paper coffee filter, before adding the simple syrup...

Before you added the sugar you had strawberry extract, just like vanilla or any other flavor.

I've got a large jar, in the cabinet, of vanilla extract that has been brewing for over 6 years now. Probably more than a 1/2 lb of vanilla beans getting all happy. :yahoo:

Some macerated strawberries...

Some fresh strawberries...

Some 1/2 & 1/2...

Some simple syrup...

All into the blender for an adult milkshake...

Can't waste a single, precious drop... :newkeyboard:

I understand the feeling.

After the first filter through a fine mesh strainer...

I don't think I could expect any more from the first jar...

No simple syrup added yet...

Simple syrup made and cooled...

Filtered water and an organic, raw evaporated cane juice...

Second filtering to remove some of the strawberry sediment that made it through my fine mesh strainer...

Much clearer and see through...

Slow going, a few drips at a time through the paper filter...

Gotta be patient and let it do its thing...

<Chuckles> yes a friend here helped me. he is a brewer and talked me into racking pump.

Let the juice set and all the sediment drops out, then you can pump off the top. in the begining I just pour off the good stuff,

Now you tell me...

So far I've found a quick swirl with a spoon, to create some agitation, helps to lift the sediment off the bottom of the filter and keep it suspended in the liquid. Just enough to let the fluid flow through for a few minutes before it settles on the bottom again.

Time to strain the Limoncello...

Added the simple syrup to the strawberry and limoncello concoctions... :pot:

Have to give them a hiding place in the back of the cabinet, to keep myself from trying a sample everytime I see it on the counter... :icon_eek:

Here's to letting them smooth and becoming HAPPY, HAPPY over time!!! :yahoo:

Oh damn...already tastes GOOOOD!!!

Found a spot in the depths of a cabinet to hide it from myself and added a 3 and 6 month reminders to my calendar...

We'll see if I can hold out that long... :icon_cool:

Mike

Thanx!!!

It's been fun so far...

I have to give credit where it's due...

If it wasn't for Foamheart's tips and advice along the way, it would've ended up as a muddled strawberry concoction...a little strawberry, a little mint, a little crushed ice all dumped into a pint glass...all smushed together and topped off with 5-6 oz of a good vodka... :newkeyboard:

The real (mis)adventure truly begins when I bust into the jars, 3-6 months from now...

That's why I buried them underneath a shelf in the cabinet. After a few weeks, I hope I forget about them and get surprised when my calendar reminds me in a few months.

In the mean time, I busted into my hidden stash of a friend's blackberry hard cider tonight. Next to last bottle... :icon_rolleyes:
