Long ago I built my mini with the Vasconia pot that had the black insulated handles. That pot is a perfect fit. Looked great too!

Sadly Vasconia discontinued that style pot and redesigned it to one with a round lid rather than the original flat lid that we could use as a base for the pot.

Looking around it appears that IMUSA has also recently redesigned their pot as well and is slightly different than what we originally used. I'm concerned about the fit of these on the bottom of the smokey joe.

I'd like to know what pots are now being successfully used for any new or recent builds.

Links or part numbers would be very helpful.

Thanks!

One of our local stores here in Oregon, BiMart carries the Hoffritz tamale steamer. It fits perfectly and they sell for $29.99. Metal handles is the only complaint.

Otherwise I haven't looked much to see what else is around.

Well shoot... its not on amazon.  Thanks Case. I should have bought a few  Visconias when I had the chance. I remember seeing them on sales for 25 bucks... Hindsight ya know? b

I know right! Well if you need one let me know. I could always ship it to you. Pretty sure with some careful cutting I could get it in a flat rate shipping box!

I turned the Hoffritz pot into the Minitisserie

I have a hard time cutting up the Vasconia pots!!!! So as you can see, it'd be no problem for me to cut up a Hoffritz pot and send to you!

Yup.  I remember that project.  I was very impressed.  So I looked at the website. Vasconia is distributed by Lifetime Brands. They actually have a photo of the elusive pot.   Maybe I'll write them...

I'm reading that the IMUSA have to be "crimped" ??? Do you know if that the roll bead on the top edge fro the Smokey Joe lid to fit?

Ok b, hope these pics help... There's just a bit of clearance needed for the SJ lid to set on the IMUSA top... Just crimping the lip down & it fits perfect !

Hope this helps ya bro ! :beercheer:

Perfect.  Does not look like too tough a job.  Thanks for the help.  Point! b

I bought 2 IMUSAs from Target and did a build this weekend. the pot fits perfectly on both a SM silver and a SM gold....both bottom and top.

I have read that the IMUSA pot made in China fit good, but the ones made in Mexico are off a bit. I was glad to see my shipment was Made in China.

I found an Imusa last year by playing with the stock locator on Walmart.com. Of the 6 or so within a reasonable drive, only 1 had stock.

I also had to crimp, which was simple. Just worked around the rim with a pair of pliers a few times until the SJ lid went on without a fight.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to attach the Imusa lid to the bottom of the pot. It's close, but just doesn't want to fit. I suspect it could be coerced, but it was more than I was willing to deal with at the time.

Great info.  Thank you for the detail! b
