Hi all,

I'm new to the forum but not the site as I've lurked off and on for a couple of years. I bought my first smoker two years ago, a Cuisinart electric that was based on masterbuilt. It died after I owned it for 13 months. I tossed it as it was out of warranty and then a short time ago found out that the entire line had been recalled for, well, being garbage shortly after I bought it.

I went last year without any smoker as replacing it wasn't in my budget.

I planned on replacing it this year but being in Canada options are limited. We have ten to fifteen Cm of snow today, and it's supposed to be spring. So our smoking season is limited and not as popular a hobby as south of the border.

I was going to go with a MES 2.5 30", although after my last experience I was iffy on the thing. But Home Depot pulled it from sale and now it looks like 2nd gen MES are all that's available, and they seem to have their own problems so I'm back to not being quite sure what to get.

I tended to smoke pork mostly (chops, tenderloins, sausages, and I finally got ribs to turn out my last meal in the smoker) as well as hamburgers. My favourite thing were the mini smoked fatties from Jeff's newsletter.
