Hi!

I'm new here, & new to smoking! My Weber Smokey Mt. is due to be delivered to my door any minute, and I'm itching to get a good hunk 'a meat on it already. I'm from LA, and haven't smoked a thing in my life, but I figured better now than never. I'm hoping I can pick up on it pretty quick, even without Texas in my blood (though I do have an uncle out there - does that count for anything?).

I'm planning on doing brisket - I know it's supposed to be the hardest cut, but that's the kinda meat we like in this house, so here goes!

I welcome all tips, recipes, everything...!

Git 'er done. Welcome, up in the right corner you will see a

thing that kinda looks like a magnifying glass.

Just type in brisket you will get a lot of info on good things to try.

I would put in a link but don't know how yet, I'm learning even

that though.

Keep on smokin'                                        Ed

Welcome to SMF!

Good luck with your first smoke on the WSM.

Since you out in Cali, you may want to smoke a tri tip next.

Easy to get them out there, not so easy in other parts of the country.

Welcome from SC. I know you will enjoy this great site. There are lots of really good folks here who are always eager to share their ideas and tips. All you have to do is ask and keep reading. I can't believe that you're from LA and have never smoked.....ooops, that's another thread.

Tip #1. Mix in a little Carolina blood with that Texas blood and you'll have a really good BBQ solution.

Good luck and good smokin', Joe. :grilling_smilie:
