Hello all! I've spent the last 2 years perfecting my steak cooking skills and finally have it down to a science, so I need a new challenge and boy does it appears I have found one. Bought my smoker a couple days ago and am excited to season it tomorrow and start smoking. I just dipped my toe in the water and picked up a Oklahoma Joe Highland at Lowes, after the sale price and military discount I got into it for around $250. I read a little about them and they appeard to be right up my alley. I need to get some Nomex tape and RTV and I should be good to go. Picking up some charcoal, hickory and ribs tonight and am going to dive in and see how it goes. Look forward to learning and of course eating massive amounts of BBQ!

Welcome to SMF!

Congrats on the new smoker!

Lot's of folks on here have that smoker & should be able to help you if needed.

It seems that they are a good entry level smoker with some potential. I think I'm going to try it out as it came first and then see what if any issues arise. I'm going with a simple rub and am still on the fence about how to do them. I may do a 2-2-1 style smoke.
