Just in the final stages of converting an aluminum steamer trunk into a smoker. It was used by my (much younger) wife and the in laws when they emigrated to Canada from Switzerland in the 1950's. It's a repurposing project meant to honor the in laws and keep SWMBO happy. It's 16 x 24 x 42 and much larger than the ancient Centro (MES 30 clone?) that we now have. With insulation, carcass and roof, #1 son calls it the Tardis. It's propane driven with a TA4 temperature controller with solenoid and a safety valve with thermocouple. This site had the only good instructions for using and programming the TA4. Loved the recipes, info and guidance provided here while I was lurking.
Pictures to follow if this thing ever works. Pressure test passed though. Great project for a retired engineer. Best part is the fun of doing it, and NO DEADLINE!! Stay tuned.
