MES 30" Thermometer Wire

My control panel was shorting out (would turn off whenever touched). So I decided to take the panel in the house to dry out. When I unlocked the control panel clip, the thermometer clip (I am guessing) unattached from the wiring. Any thoughts on how to repair this?


LOVING the smoker btw! Only two months in and have produced great ribs, pulled pork, pastrami, chicken.

  I'm having the same shorting out issue with my MES30, they said they would warranty it for me but I had to show a picture of the serial number and cut cord.



 I read the fine print and it said after we get the picture and verify your warranty we will cover it. . . I had previously told them I don't have the receipt, and asked them to if its going to be covered even though I don't have my receipt. . . Glad I didn't cut the cord just yet.



Also, I dont think its a controller issue, my unit shipped with 2 controllers and drip pans by accident and swapping them around made zero difference. Masterbuilt's response is there must be a short inside the unit.



  As for fixing the connector, I'm not sure what can be done, I would say poor build quality is a factor here and I would contact them and see how you can fix it without voiding your warranty.

After emailing a picture of the original receipt and serial number (along with a picture of the cut cord), Masterbuilt is sending me a new smoker. But could guaranty it would be the same model...

I had the SAME hesitation about cutting the cord with their wording of "verifying warranty" after getting the picture. However, I specifically asked them and Masterbuilt confirmed.

That will work for the proof of purchase. To finalize this claim we will need a picture showing the cord has been cut flush against the back of the smoker. Once I have that information, I will place an order for a new unit to be sent to you. If I can be further assistance please let me know.

Thank you for contacting Masterbuilt Customer Service. Based on the information you have provided, it sounds like there might be an issue with the internal wiring of your smoker. The steps for getting a new unit sent to you are as follows

•Cut the power cord (closest to body as possible). We also need your model and serial number. Once you have done this, reply to this email with the pictures attached.

•Provide your Name and Shipping Address. PO Boxes are not acceptable, since FedEx will not deliver.

•When replying please be aware the unit we will replace the smoker out with may be a different model. However, we will make sure that the new unit comes with the same features as your current model. Their may be some cosmetic differences due to us not having certain models in stock. Please make sure that you reply to this email so it will be attached to the correct incoming address. Once we receive this information, and verify your warranty, we will correspond with you for further information. If you have any questions please us me know.

  Well they just shipped me a new unit as well, Sweet! I guess I will use the old one as a cold smoker or something.
