Hi folks,

A friend and I are getting ready to embark on our first fridge build. We are pretty sure we want to make it a combo (cold & heated) smoker.

So far we have started tearing it down so we can make that it has been thoroughly inspected and ready for us to hopefully turn it into a great unit.

I have attached some "before pics" for you to view.  As you can see we have begun tearing into it.

Any suggestions or ideas you may have to help us will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Paul

Looks like you got a nice fridge to work with. I am building a cold/hot smoker right now also. I made a smoke generator for mine. Check out Freezer build by Kunze7. There are pictures of it on that post. Or you can buy all different kinds of smoke generators.

Thanks Kunze7. That looks really good. Where did you get the element? We are trying figure out what size and wattage we will need. We are also thinking about going with a smoke generator as well. Looking forward to seeing yours finished, I think we can learn a lot from your build seeing how similar they are.

Thanks,
Paul

I ordered my element off of eBay. I also ordered my pid controller from eBay. People on here say with a single door fridge you could get by with 1500 watt element. Just take your time and search for answers to any questions you have on here.
